 Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:    When was Bible League started?

In 1938 William and Betty Chapman felt led by God to offer Bibles to people who promised to read them.  Since then, Bible League has been committed to provide God's Word to the spiritually hungry people.

Q2:    What is the purpose of Bible League?

Bible League partners with Christians around the world, providing God's Word to:

  • bring people into fellowship with Christ
  • nurture Christians through Bible study
  • train church leaders to start new churches

Q3:   How does Bible League achieve that purpose?

Bible League adheres to Biblical principles of efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability.

To be efficient, we place Scriptures only with those who have shown a desire to read them, providing quality Scriptures at the lowest possible cost.  To be effective, we train partner churches and mission agencies in evangelistic uses of Scripture that get the best results.  We believe we are accountable to God first, then to our supporters and partners.  This is why we focus on the spiritual results of Scripture, and provide audited financial statement to all who ask for them.

Q4:   How does Bible League differ from other Bible agencies?

Our ministry is unique.  We do not indiscriminately offer free or subsidised Scriptures without accountability.  In other words, we do not just focus on the raw distribution of the Bibles.  Bible League will only give the Scriptures free of charge or at a subsidised nominal cost, to those churches and mission agencies whom we partner with, and in agreement that they will supply reports or results on their ministry growth.  To enhance their skills, we too provide them with training on our well-tested and effective Project Philip Bible Study tool.

Q5:    Is Bible League affiliated with any denomination?

No.  We are interdenominational and supported by a wide range of evangelical denominations and agencies.

Q6:    How does Bible League get Scriptures to people who need them?

Bible League gets Bibles translated into local native languages and has them shipped economically to the churches of our 78 ministry bases in various countries.

Q7:    What does it cost to send a Bible to a country where Bible League works?

The average worldwide cost to print, ship, and place a whole Bible is S$10.00.   A  New Testament costs S$4.50.  These prices include all shipping administration, and fundraising costs.  In many countries, people pay a small amount for the Scriptures they receive.  The money generated by these sales is always re-invested into the ministry.

Q8:    Can I trust Bible League with my gift and sponsorship?

The Bible League is a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), and we adhere to their strict regulations.  We also hold membership in the Christian Service Charities of America.

Q9:    How can I become involved in Bible League's worldwide ministry?

You can be involved in :

  • Prayers support
  • Monthly financial support for our ministry
  • Be a volunteer in administrative / IT support
  • Be an advocate for our sponsor program

It is through people like you that Bible League can reach others with God's Word
