God's Word in Action
The impact of your partnership in India

Romy's greatest desire was to work for God and fulfill a God-given vision to minister in a mysterious place.

He found his calling at the end of a long road

For 25 years, Romy was a bamboo farmer. Every day he went into the forest to cut bamboo, while in his heart he longed to do God’s Work. “Lord, show me where to do ministry,” he often prayed.

One day God showed him a vision of a hillside village of huts among trees, empty lands that weren’t cultivated, and a burned place. Romy knew this was the place for his ministry. But he was very shy and not good with words. How would he be able to do God’s work?

God provided an answer when a Bible League-trained Christian came to the village. He began teaching Romy how to lead Bible studies, and encouraged him to join a church planter training class.

So Romy left his job cutting bamboo and traveled to the training. “While I was attending this class, I could feel the Lord’s still voice urging me to go to the place of my vision,” he says.

Romy decided to begin ministering in a village of tribal families. It was a long walk from his house — nearly six miles into the forest — but that did not discourage him. When he arrived in the village, Romy saw that it was just like his vision. He found impoverished people. Many of them spent all their money on cheap, locally-made alcohol. Neighbors cheated neighbors, and people had hard hearts.

But each day, Romy filled a water bottle and wrapped some bread for his journey, and faithfully followed the long road. “I submitted myself to bear all the difficulties for God’s sake,” he says. And his ministry began to grow.

Romy now has a new church in that village where 40 people worship each Sunday. He is also establishing churches in two other tribal villages. “My new vision is to win 100 souls for God this year,” Romy exclaims. “Please pray for all these tribal people, and for my daughters, who must stay home and go to school while I am away.”
